I love looking at covers - looking for the clues that might be hidden in their design that gives insight into the story behind the cover. Or just looking at the design because anymore, many covers are ART.
I'm being interviewed by Capillya (don't you just love that name?!) over at THAT COVER GIRL today and she asked some great questions about my cover, like this:
TCG: What was your very first reaction when you saw the final design?
and this:
TCG: I’m not a huge fan of faces on covers, but TFR’s cover handled the mystery of Tiki’s face by placing her in the shadows and putting a lot more emphasis on the, well, ring. My favorite part about this cover is the type treatment: its organic and floral accents and subtle shadow. It’s beautiful, but the choice of uppercase grabs your attention in a way that doesn’t make you feel like the title is screaming at you. What’s your favorite part about the cover?
or this:
TCG: Are there any trends in YA cover art that you’ve seen lately that you’ve noticed and loved? Or, have you noticed an evolution in YA cover design in the past few years?
So - lots of fun questions PLUS I reveal some secrets about my cover. Come over and check it out!
Also - I'm giving away signed bookmarks - if you want one - email me your mailing address!
But before you go? Tell me your favorite YA or MG cover!

More 2011 Covers Revealed!
I don't know about you - but I'm a sucker for book covers. I love looking at the colors, the fonts, the clues that are hidden in the images. Right now, a lot of Fall covers are being revealed so I thought I would share a few new covers of friends of mine.
Above we have the beautiful LIAR'S MOON by Elizabeth Bunce. This is the sequel to STARCROSSED that released in 2010 and I love that they have the same girl on both covers.
Next, I have Gretchen McNeil's new cover for her horror / paranormal story, POSSESS:
Isn't that fantastic with the reflection of the bare tree limbs superimposed on her face like she's cracking? Can you say creepy??
And finally, I have Ellen Booraem's new paperback cover for her 2008 novel, THE UNNAMEABLES:
That is a haunting image as well, isn't it? I love the swirls and how the title is designed as a reflection that isn't really a reflection...intriguing.
What covers have you seen lately that have caught your eye and made you want to pick up the book?

Cover LOVE for Books Debuting in 2011
As you know my YA novel, THE FAERIE RING, is coming out in October, 2011. As a 2011 debut author I belong to a couple of AWESOME groups with other authors debuting their first books in 2011. One of them is the Elevensies.
It is so much fun to get to chat with other people going through the same process to publication as I am (I often refer to it as the black hole, because you rarely know the next step until you're experiencing it....) We are a pretty large group and each of us are at different steps in the process, based on which month of the year we debut in. Since my book isn't coming out until October, I'm not quite as far along as some of the others debuting in January and early Spring but I get to share in their excitement as they reveal their covers to the world.Yay!
I think one of the biggest moments for me in believing this dream is a reality will be when I see my cover for THE FAERIE RING. I can hardly wait! I've had some preliminary conversations with my editor about it and let's just say - I am *very* excited about the direction they are going!!! But enough about that -
For your viewing pleasure here are some of the spectacular covers and books that will be coming to shelves near you soon:
