Every day we inch a little closer to having my book become a reality. I received book jackets for THE FAERIE RING today! Previously, I had only seen the front cover, so it was especially exciting to see the beautiful title details carried around to the back of the book. Isn't that pretty? So many things I love about it.
Also, they included a story description on the front flap:
and an author bio and picture on the inside flap:
Oh! and I found out my on-sale date is September 27th so - one step closer! As the widget says today....only 192 days to go!! ;-)

Want to know some secrets about my cover?
I love looking at covers - looking for the clues that might be hidden in their design that gives insight into the story behind the cover. Or just looking at the design because anymore, many covers are ART.
I'm being interviewed by Capillya (don't you just love that name?!) over at THAT COVER GIRL today and she asked some great questions about my cover, like this:
TCG: What was your very first reaction when you saw the final design?
and this:
TCG: I’m not a huge fan of faces on covers, but TFR’s cover handled the mystery of Tiki’s face by placing her in the shadows and putting a lot more emphasis on the, well, ring. My favorite part about this cover is the type treatment: its organic and floral accents and subtle shadow. It’s beautiful, but the choice of uppercase grabs your attention in a way that doesn’t make you feel like the title is screaming at you. What’s your favorite part about the cover?
or this:
TCG: Are there any trends in YA cover art that you’ve seen lately that you’ve noticed and loved? Or, have you noticed an evolution in YA cover design in the past few years?
So - lots of fun questions PLUS I reveal some secrets about my cover. Come over and check it out!
Also - I'm giving away signed bookmarks - if you want one - email me your mailing address!
But before you go? Tell me your favorite YA or MG cover!

Winner of Dark Goddess announced & misc other tidbits
Hello Poppets! I hope you're having a lovely Wednesday! First order of business is to announce that the winner of the DARK GODDESS contest giveaway
(Sarwat Chadda's just-released sequel to his darkly delicious DEVIL'S KISS) is: Orchid! Email me your shipping info and the book will be on its way.
In other news: I have seen the cover for THE FAERIE RING and let me just say this: I am in LOVE. I'm dying to post it online but still waiting for the okay from my editor and art director. After all these months of waiting and wondering, I am thrilled with the end result. My editor was kind enough to ask my input over six months ago and what they came up with is perfection. Every inch of the cover ties in with parts of my story. *does happy dance* So stay tuned! I'm hoping to post it any day now.
I have sent book 3 of The Faerie Ring series, entitled The Tara Stone, off to a few readers and I'm digging into a YA contemporary story with the working title of THE LAST DANCE.
I actually got the idea for this story from a dream (I know, I know - Stephenie Meyer had a dream that resulted in Twilight - trust me - I'm not thinking my dream was quite as sparkly) but anyhoo....it was vivid enough that I jotted some notes down about it and even had the title, then, of course, promptly forgot about it. Then, a few months ago I was digging around in my computer and found the file and opened it up and thought hmmmm, this sounds kind of interesting - so I'm starting to pick away at that.

What about you? What are you working on? And if you're a writer - where did your latest idea come from?
