Grease 2 (1982) [Musical Film-a-Thon] 10#

My Rating: 2/10

Directed by: Patricia Birch
Genre: Musical, Comedy
Runtime: 114 Minutes

I think the title speaks for itself. Grease 2 is one of the worst sequels I have ever seen and it lacks everything a good or even okay film should have. It’s tacky. It’s annoying. It’s stupid and most of all it just is not fun! The drags on almost 2 hours and it really depressed me half way through. I was just wishing the film would end. Whose idea was it to make a sequel to Grease anyway? In addition, I can see why half the original cast did not want to return, the only person who was enjoyable in the film was Frenchy, whose actress actually returned. The school principal and her assistant’s original actresses also returned. However, no Travolta or any of the other people you might have liked in the previous film. Oh and you remember Sandra D? Well she is not in the film. Grease 2 is not worth your time and it’s just plain insulting.

It’s a new year at Rydell high School and the T-Birds and Pink ladies return once more. It's 1961, and Stephanie Zinone (Michelle Pfeiffer) is the tough leader of the Pink Ladies, while Michael Carrington (Maxwell Caulfield) is a clean-cut British exchange student. Michael likes Stephanie, but the Pink Ladies' by-laws prevent her from dating guys who aren't members of the T-Birds, their affiliated male gang. However, when a Zorro-like masked avenger on a motorcycle rescues Stephanie from a gang of ill-mannered toughs, she's eager to get to know the hero with the cool wheels. Any guesses as to who he might be?

Everyone in the film is a bunch of hormonal dimwits. All it has is all those stupid typical stereotypes and it does not even seem like it’s trying to poke fun at it. The T-Birds are a bunch of stupid perverted assholes that clearly care about the girls for self-image and or to get in their pants. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Stephanie in a terribly stale performance alongside all the other stupid actors and actresses. Even if this film is trying to make fun of everything it does it really badly.
Look out, it's the dumb crew.
The only okay performance in the film was from Didi Conn as Frenchy, but that is about it. If you are looking for stale acting and flat characterisation this film is here for you. As for the film’s god-awful soundtrack, it was stupid, thoughtless and pointless. One song has a class of students singing about Reproduction in one of the worst musical numbers to exist. I am going to make this review short because this film is not even worth the time. So to sum up the film it is an unimpressive, unentertaining piece of crap that shouldn’t even be considered a film. Do yourself a favour and stay very far away form this!
