The “Top-10″ Free Apps for iPhone by Times

Here is an interesting article I found on Times Magazine’s website. The article showed Apple’s top 10 selling apps of the year, I filtered the apps to only free ones and junked-out the paid ones. I’ll do a paid one later on, which will include both iPhone and iPad apps. For this post, I will only do the Top-10 free Apps for iPhone/iPod Touch according to Apple statistics.
1. Facebook:


This is the official app for the most famous social networking site – Facebook. Facebook for iPhone allows you to stay connected with your Facebook friends, in a tap of a button. Chat, post what you’re doing, post on your friends wall or just browse through pictures. It was all made easier with this amazing touch-Facebook app for iPhone.


2. Angry Birds Lite:


Angry Birds Lite is one of the most famous game now, not only on the iPhone, but on Android also and soon to come on webOS also. Here is a small brief info of Angry Birds Lite:

“…players use a slingshot to launch birds at pigs stationed on or within various structures, with the intent of destroying all the pigs on the playfield”

It is developed by Rovio.
3. Words With Friends Free:


This the free version of the classical “Words With Friends” game. The games simple motive, is to let you and your friends play a word game together and compete against one another.

The game also has a premium buy version, which has more features than this free one.
4. Skype:


Skype is the ever-famous voIP client. It not only allows you to make free calls to and from different iPhones to Skype accounts, but also allows you to chat and share different stuff amongst each others, for example: pictures, videos, etc.
5. Tap Tap Revenge 3:


Tap Tap Revenge 3 is a game developed by Tapulous Inc, which allows you to play some of the most amazing and famous bands in the world, including: Black Eyed Peas, Ke$sha, Metallica and AFI to name just a few.

The games simple idea is to hit the button the second the mark comes at a specific point, which earns you point. It follows the same idea as Rockband does.
6. The Weather Channel:


Take your weatherman skills to the next level with this amazing and free weather app, which allows you to see forecasts, extended forecasts, full screen maps with cloud cover/weather, severe weather alerts and much more. The app also has a video mode, which will allow you to watch a LIVE weather channel right from your iPhone.
7. Paper Toss:


A simple game developed by Backflip Studios. The game is really addicting and will have you spending and wasting your time on a very fast lane.

All you have to do is throw a piece of paper into the bin, while looking at how much wind is blowing. The more you throw in, the more the score. If you miss, then your out.
8. Bing:


Bing is a simple search engine developed by Microsoft Inc. A brief description of it, right from its iTunes page:

9. Rock Band Free:


The very famous Rock Band guitar game on the iPhone, and its FREE! The game follows the simple motives of you pressing the button the second the musical note falls on a specific point.  The game is very similar to Tap Tap Revenge 3 (which ranks at number 5)
10. Talking Tom Cat:


A very funny little app, in which an animated cat speaks everything you speak in a very funny accent. You can poke him, pet him and even pull his tail.

A very good app to lighten the mood, especially if you’re bored or feeling down.
