Heading Home from ALA / New Orleans....so many thank you's!

I headed home yesterday from an AWESOME trip to the annual American Library Association (ALA) conference, held in New Orleans.  It was my first time to this conference and it was so much fun!  Librarians are just the nicest people and there's nothing better then being at a place with aisles and aisles of books - and people giving them away! :-)

As it turns out, the people from my publishing house are also AWESOME  and I wanted to thank the group from Tor for taking such good care of their authors and treating us so well!! Kathleen Doherty, Susan Chang, Melissa Frain - you guys totally rock!  I count myself extremely lucky to work with such a nice, knowledgeable group who feel more like friends than business associates. Their dedication to the craft of writing and a commitment to excellence in publishing has held their company in good stead and high regard for over 30 years. Thank you for letting me be part of the family!

I also had the opportunity to meet some of the super-nice BIG NAME authors at Tor (it was like meeting fantasy writing royalty -eek!):  Orson Scott Card, (and his lovely wife, Kristine), Carrie Vaughn, Bill Willingham, David Weber and the delightful John Scalzi, who has this little blog, Whatever, (with pictures of cats and bacon and The Big Idea.)  Apparently I was the only person in the world who had never heard of before - but I have been enlightened!!!!  If you haven't been there - click over and check it out!

Plus, I'd like to thank my Tor author buddy, the lovely Lisa Desrochers, for introducing me to so many people and hanging with me! It was loads of fun!

Anyway, it was a delightful, wonderful time.  THANK YOU to all the fans who stood in line and waited for an ARC of The Faerie Ring. It was fun to meet you and I'm sorry if we ran out before you got a copy! I will be announcing more giveaways of THE FAERIE RING so stay tuned!! Also, I will have a few pictures to share tomorrow - so stop back by!
