The Grand Plan to Fix Everything - don't miss it!

In my journey as an author, I was lucky enough to take several writing classes from Uma Krishnaswami, when she taught at Writers.com.
I've never met anyone who has a better understanding of craft than Uma.  She was a wonderful teacher, who held you to a higher standard with your writing - pushing, prodding, encouraging - all of us to elevate our prose to a more engaging level.  An author of multiple picture books, as well as other middle grade novels, Uma is also on the faculty of the Vermont College Fine Arts program.  Suffice it to say this lady knows writing.

In our classes we would share critiques on each other's work, Uma's included.  One of the stories that I was lucky enough to see in development and provide feedback on was her charming middle-grade story   now called THE GRAND PLAN TO FIX EVERYTHING.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Eleven-year old Dini loves movies—watching them, reading about them, trying to write her own—especially Bollywood movies. But when her mother tells her some big news, it does not at all jive with the script of her life she has in mind. Her family is moving to India…and, not even to Bombay, which is the center of the Bollywood universe and home to Dini's all-time most favorite star, Dolly. No, Dini is moving to a teeny, tiny village she can't even find on a map. Swapnagiri.

But, life is often more unpredictable than the movies and when Dini starts plotting her story things get a little out of control. This is a joyful, lively Bollywood inspired story, full of colorful details, delicious confections and the wondrous, magical powers of coincidence. Uma Krishnaswami will have you smiling from ear to ear.  -- Starred reviews in both Kirkus and Publisher's Weekly

Uma is touring on a number of blogs celebrating her release of THE GRAND PLAN and today she is featured on Paula McLaughlin's blog WRITE NOW.  Paula was one of Uma's students as well, and has a great interview with Uma discussing characters and voice, as well as getting a few questions answered by the characters themselves.

I loved this story when it was in development and I can't wait to get my hands on the finished version.  It is as rollicking and visual as a Bollywood movie, but charmingly nostalgic at the same time.  Go here to buy THE GRAND PLAN.  You don't want to miss it!
