There is a long list of amazing web sites and games that you can easily install as applications in your browser and customize to launch whichever way you wish to. Here, I’m gonna discuss in detail the process. You can go about selecting you favorite apps and after checking if those are free or you’ll have to shell some amount (though very minimal) you can go about installing it on your system.
I’m taking the example of HuffingtonPost NewsGlide app (the process is same for all the apps). Once you’ve selected an application you want to install, click the Install button at the right hand below. If the app is free, the installation will begin a soon you click it. On the other hand, if it’s not a free app, you’d be prompted for purchasing before it finally starts installing.
The New Tab page opens up once the app is installed. Here, the new tab you can see various applications installed by you.
After launching of the app, you can easily make out that the apps available in the Chrome Web Store make a link enabling you customize and use the way you want to by choosing options of your choice. The reason behind is that the apps are based on regular web technology-HTML5 and Flash.
How do I customize the Apps?
Customizing the apps will definitely enhance your experience. You can see the apps as pinned tabs, separate windows, or in full-screen mode. Let’s take a look at the first one, Pinned Tabs. Right click on the app you have installed and want to customize and choose Open as pinned tab option from the drop down menu. After making your selection, the app will launch in a pinned tab.
Follow the same process if you want the app to launch in separate windows or full-screen mode.
Also, you can make the choice of the way application works. Some of the apps have Chrome-style options pages while the other apps don’t.
The only thing one feels bad about is that there is no option to drag and arrange the application the way one want.
How to create shortcuts for these apps?
Simply right click on the app and choose “Create shortcut” option, there after you can see the shortcut of your favorite app on your desktop which makes it easier for you to access it whenever you want to. Besides easy access, the way these apps enhance your desktop is the coolest part of creating shortcuts.
How do I sync the Google Chrome Web Apps across different computers?
If you want your favorite selected apps to be available on different systems you use, you can do so in just a matter of few seconds. The process is to firstly go into the Tools>Options>Personal Stuff and after checking if your sync is enabled click on the Customize.
The apps you want to sync should be marked so as to ensure if the syncing is done properly. Not to forget, your other computer should have the same settings.
I’m certain that the post helps you in using and customizing the Google Chrome Web Apps thereby enhancing your experience. So, what are you waiting for? Check out the cool Apps and go about using them in pretty fun way! How about sharing your experience with us?
