Class of 2k11 in New York City!

Many members of the Class of 2k11 are here in New York for BEA and we have had such an AWESOME time!  As a group we've been chatting online together for almost a year now, plotting and planning and sharing our path to publication, but this is the first time that most of us have had a chance to meet in real life. And it has been WONDERFUL.

We did an event for a 7th grade class at Seward Park Library in the morning and then a small event at Grand Central Library in the afternoon. Here's a shot from last night of an event we had at Books of Wonder:
And here's the audience for Books of Wonder (if you see yourself - THANK YOU  for coming!! - There were more people a bit later too.)
And after our readings  -- authors signing new books and chatting with fans:
Since my book hasn't released yet this is the first time I have done any public events.  It's wonderful to see and meet the readers, but the reading out loud part is still a bit nerve-wracking!!

Today we're headed for Le Poisson Rouge for humorous readings of our books (which I think means we get roasted...which should be pretty hilarious) and then a final event at The Voracious Reader in Larchmont (I won't be at this event.)  THANK YOU to all who have visited with us and come to events and for your interest in our books.  It's back to the real world tomorrow -- which means doing laundry. :-)

The Best First Signing EVER - THANK YOU!!!

So - yesterday was a big day for me as an author.  I got to participate in my first book signing - and let me tell you this - It could not have been better!
Here was the view, when we came up to our seats. (I was lucky enough to sign with the awesome, Lisa Desrochers - PERSONAL DEMONS, ORIGINAL SIN - which made it that much more fun.) The line was long and got LONGER.

and LONGER!

We ran out of time and had to go to an overflow table!! And then we ran out of ARCs!  It was CRAZY and WONDERFUL and UNBELIEVABLE!!!

THANK YOU to everyone who came to get an ARC of THE FAERIE RING. It was SO nice to meet all of you!! Many I've talked to via email or online - others I met for the first time - either way - it was wonderful to see you and I appreciate your interest in my book!!!

Build-up to BEA and where I'll be

By now, most of you know that BEA (BookExpo America) is being held in New York next week. And that yours truly is going to be there.YES! *fist pump*  I can hardly wait!

As I've mentioned, I will be signing and giving away ARCs of THE FAERIE RING on Tuesday, May 24th from 2:30 - 3:30 at Table 12 along with my Tor Teen pal, Lisa Desrochers, the author of the awesome PERSONAL DEMONS and soon-to-be-released ORIGINAL SIN.

Also, many of the members of The Class of 2k11 will be there also, and we've got all sorts of trouble planned.  We'd love for any, or all of you, to show up and party with us!  Here's where we will be:
Click on the flyer and it will take you to the Class of 2k11 page where all the events are listed big enough to read!

Also, several of the members of The Enchanted Inkpot will be there as well. Wendy Del Sol has a nice summary of who's going to be there here. We are going to meet on Tuesday at 3:45 at the cafe deck upstairs at the Javits Center - so if you're around, come by and join the fun!

If you see me, please stop and say hello! I will try and post pictures next week as all the excitement is going on!

Are you going to be there?

Buttons, BEA and Steampunk

Happy Friday Everyone!  I'm actually writing today - working on my YA steampunk novel. I included a brief description in my April newsletter, but for those of you who aren't signed up for the newsletter yet (ahem...why not?)  here's what it's about:
London 1895 - England has just declared war with Germany and Blackjack Bailey is a streetsmart fifteen year-old boy who manages to get himself invited to the prestigous Westgate Academy after fixing one of the defense shields above the Houses of Parliament.

He is searching for his father who has mysteriously disappeared, but discovers that all is not what it seems at Westgate.

An attractive girl becomes an unexpected ally and teams up with him to unravel the truth. The race is on to find his father and the mysterious machine that has disappeared with him, before Germany takes control of England.

Clockworks, airships, secret identities and a race against time.... oh, and did I mention spies and goggles? ;-)

What do you think? Something you'd like to read?

In other news, I am very excited to announce that

I will be signing and giving away ARCs of THE FAERIE RING at BEA
on Tuesday, May 24th at Table 12 from 2:30 - 3:30

If you're going to be at BEA, please stop by!! I'd love to say hello and give you an ARC! :-)

And finally, I have some BUTTONS to give away!
I took the picture with them next to a bookmark and postcard so you could see the size - they're pretty big. I'm not really sure how popular buttons are, but Kristi over at The Story Siren said she loves them, so I ordered up a few.

If you want one - leave a comment. The first five comments will get a FAERIE RING button.

****I'm coming back on to say that I wasn't sure if anyone wanted buttons or not, but yes they do! Since you're all so nice to comment I will send buttons to anyone who comments (up to 25 people).  Thanks you guys! :-)  ****

And that's it for me today.  Back to writing!

Have a great weekend!
